What are your best organizational tips for someone who is just getting into data collection? |
| A |
My four best organizational tips are:
1) Use Vernier books for the core of your effort.
2) Rely on the "Teacher Information" section found at the
end of each experiment in the Vernier books.
3) Test experiments before using them with your students.
4) Enlist the help of students who have expertise with the
technology you are implementing. |

Do you have any tips for teachers who are trying to get funding? |
| A |
Look to technology companies. I have an HP grant in the
works.
Also our utilities have money to spend. Sometimes the state
science associations have small funds available for special
projects. There's always the Vernier Technolgy Grant! |

Do you have any tips for teachers who are trying to get funding? |
| A |
There are lots of little grants. Maybe a school foundation,
parents group or local stores. I was awarded a BestBuy grant
recently. Start small, request the probe you will use the most,
that will do things other devices don't do as easily or as
well, and one that can be used in many areas. In Physics that
is the motion detector. It is used all of first semsester.
The more you use probes the easier it is to get funds. If
the math department has use for certain probes, maybe you
can co-
author grants and strengthen the proposal. |

How has your administration reacted to your use of Vernier equipment? |
| A |
The school and county level administration has been
extremely supportive in the use of technology in chemistry
classroom. They are working to spread technology use in
other areas and grade levels. |
