Electroplating a Key, Avogadro's Number, Conductiometric
Titration of Barium Hydroxide and Sulfuric Acid, Diprotic
Acid Titration.

What are some of your favorite labs?

| A |
Use of Vernier technology has allowed students to do more
labs than we were able to do previously. Students are
exposed to the use of technology which prepares them for
college and the work world. Even with our short periods,
students can often do a lab again if they are not satisfied
with their data.

What are your best organizational tips for someone who is just getting into data collection?

| A |
Get training to use the calculator/LabPro--several days of
training is best. Practice all labs and activities in
advance--be prepared for the unexpected! Make notes of
problems that may crop up with each lab for use the next
year. Keep all equipment organized and easily accessible--
a cart dedicated to the equipment is a good idea. Clear,
plastic shoe boxes are excellent for storing probes such as
temperature and voltage.

What are your best teaching tips for someone who is just getting into data-collection?

Prepare students well in advance for using the equipment.
Students should be familiar with the calculator before they
perform their first lab. There are many activities
available to familiarize the student with the calculator.

Do you have any tips for teachers who are trying to get funding?

Grants from local companies are a source of our funding.

How has your administration reacted to your use of Vernier equipment?

The school and county level administration has been
extremely supportive in the use of technology in chemistry
classroom. They are working to spread technology use in
other areas and grade levels.

What would you like to tell us about your use of Vernier products?
|
| A |
We use Vernier products in all levels of chemistry-
technical, honors, and AP. All levels of students respond
well to the use of technology and have benefitted from its
use. Vernier products have been extremely reliable.
Vernier has quickly replaced the few probes or LabPros that
have caused problems. A technical person is always
available to answer questions at Vernier--either via phone
or e-mail.
