No soldering necessary

Use the LabPro in innovative ways

Robotics & Control Kit
Order Code: RCK-DCU
Price: $49

Our Robotics & Control Kit is a collection of parts for use with our Digital Control Unit (DCU) and with the LabPro analog output line. It is a great way to introduce engineering, programming, and design concepts, and it is perfect for student projects. The Robotics & Control Kit comes with specific wiring directions and a terminal block; so everything can be connected and operated with no soldering necessary.

Robotics & Control Kit Vernier Robotics & Control Kit includes:
  • Simple DC Motor
  • Stepper Motor
  • Servo Motor
  • Buzzer
  • Speaker
  • Two lamp holders and two different lamps
  • Red, green, and bi-color LEDs
  • Terminal block (for connections)
  • Alligator clips (pack of 10)
  • Fan
  • Manual (featuring over a dozen projects)

The Robotics & Control Kit Manual

Included with the Robotics & Control Kit, the manual contains the following open-ended student projects.
Alarm System
Use a Motion Detector to start a buzzer sounding when activated.
Greenhouse
Use a Temperature Probe to make a temperature-controlled environment.
Flashing LEDs
Learn to control digital output lines programatically.
Bi-Color LED Demonstration
Program a bicolor LED to be red, green, or yellow.
Traffic Light
Build a working traffic light, perhaps using a sensor.
Optical Illusion
Control a DC motor with the analog output line of LabPro.
Wave Demonstration
Control a standing wave demonstration using analog output.
Blinking Lamp
Control the brightness of a lamp with a feedback and control system.
Rubber Band Launcher
Control a servo motor to launch a rubber band.
Candy Dispenser
Use a servo motor to move candy along an assembly line.
Mouse Trap
Use a Photogate to build a better mousetrap.
Sun Tracker
Use two Light Sensors to build a heliotrope.
Tea Maker
Use a Temperature Probe and stepper motor make a whimsical kitchen device.
Marketing Display
Use a Motion Detector for a display that knows when to do its thing.

LabVIEW, REALbasic, and calculator sample programs included with the Digital Control Unit (DCU) demonstrate the use of all of the parts in this kit. With access to the DCU sample programs, this kit, and their imagination, students will be able to create and learn in the fun environment of control and robotics. Students will need to supply standard laboratory equipment and household supplies.
