Just tried it with Ubuntu 8.04 and KDE 4. LoggerPro works with this desktop.
Later this week I want to try it with Puppy Linux. I want to use that distro to make a small bootable CD that I can then use in class.

The beta was not working under Kubuntu 8.10. Did you need to install further packages? Or did you install Ubuntu, then KDE so all the Gnome packages were still there?
So far, after testing under Knoppix, Debian, Kubuntu, and Ubuntu, I conclude that this is not so much a "linux" program as an "Ubuntu" one. It is running wonderfully on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop under Ubuntu 8.10. I tested it the last couple of days with the colorimeter checking concentrations of CuCO4 solutions made by students.

Your conclusions are correct -- we chose a particular distribution (Ubuntu) and decided to support that first. Part of what we're interested in is finding out what other distros folks are interested in using. Any distro running the GNOME desktop "should" work, but we restricted our testing to Ubuntu.
Thanks again.

Yes, I did install KDE in regular Ubu. I will be trying with other desktops to see what happens, but it will always be with the regular Ubu Gnome base.

Hi I just tried to install on Kubuntu 9.04 but with no luck. The drivers installs perfectly but not the main program. It just says install failed and that there were unknown errors. Is there any way to get to work or do I have install Ubuntu with KDE desktop? I'm rather fond of Kubuntu.

Hi,
Thanks for trying LoggerPro. You don't get any other indication of why the install failed? I'm not sure what could have prevented it. Installing Ubuntu with KDE desktop seems to be a reasonable solution.

Similar problem here with not being able to run LoggerPro under Kubuntu. I'll also applaud any efforts to support Kubuntu. We are using older laptops and the performance difference (ie. Kubuntu vs. Ubuntu) is night and day.

Would it be possible to list the dependencies for LPL, so that people who want to use it without GNOME can try it?

Here are the dependencies for LPL. If I find some time (ha-ha), I might try to corral the dependencies, and try to get a XFCE destop enviro to run LPL. The list is here for anyone else to try.
