Attemted to install vstdrivers_1.0.i386 (2/18/09) onto a G3 iMac (red) running Xubuntu 8.04 with all current updates. The installer ran for a few seconds then produced the above message in red and stopped. The iMac is using a PowerPC processor, has 312mb of memory, and 4.2GB disk available.
Searched this forum but saw no reference to this message. Has anyone run into this before?
Thanks!!

Hi, deb files are packages geared for a particular computer architecture. Right now, we only distribute the package files for i386 machines (not power pcs). There are scripts for converting the debs from i386 to lpia (google this and you'll see lots of solutions) but right now, there's nothing to do a similar thing for power pc.
We'll investigate this further.

Thanks for the info. I'll follow up on conversion scripts this summer and will pass on whatever I find.
There may be others trying to use these older, but still serviceable, machines. With budgets the way they are the price for this old hardware with Linux OS and apps looks pretty good!

Thanks. I'd love to hear (and so would the others on this list) what you find out.

Got a similar message on a new Dell Mini running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. Not sure why I would get that message given it IS the right OS and architecture.

What kernel is the Dell Mini running? (type uname -r from a terminal prompt)
