Looks like a bug. We hope to have it fixed soon. Thank you for reporting it.
In the meantime there is a workaround:
In Logger Pro, go into the column options for the "Afstad" column and change the equation to read stepColumnBased("Gate stilling", 0,000000, 0,050000, 1,000000, 1,000000)
If you do this before you save you are just adding 4 spaces to equation, (so that it can tell where the arguments end, vs where the decimal points are.) If you do this after you open the file, you'll need to type in the entire equation but it will bring your data back.

Hi Gastineau
I did exactly as you describe. Maybe I should stress that the LabQuest was not connected to the computer while the measurements were carried out, it was only connected to the computer afterwards, when importing. But this is quite normal I assume.
Actually it was another physics teacher, who directed my attention to this issue, because he and his students couldn't make it work. I got the same result after testing it myself.
I find the problem very unusual: Somehow comparable to if you copy and paste some text into MS Word, save the file and after closing the application and reopening the file, half of the content has gone!! I haven't experienced something like this behavior earlier in any program.
We discussed it in our physics team today. We don't have any ideas to the origin of this issue, however. Also it would probably require knowledge about the implementation. The only standard (and not necessarily very good) suggestion we can come up with is that it could be a comma versus period issue. Remember in Denmark we use comma as a decimal separator. Our LabQuests have the Region set to Danish! On the other hand we haven't discovered any problems with the other sensors!
The time column and the gate position column are preserved, but the distance, velocity and acceleration coloumns have disappeared! Somehow Logger Pro does not save the information about the physical shape of the picket fence (the distances between the black and transparent stripes).
I hope you can help us solve the problem. Feel free to ask us to test something, if you cannot reconstruct the problem on your own equipment. We appreciate your help!!
Erik V.

Hello,
My tests from the other day, and again today, show that you can do the following successfully:
Collect data with a photogate in motion timing with a picket fence on LabQuest running version 1.4. Connect the LabQuest to computer. Launch Logger Pro 3.8.2. Import the photogate data. (you will need to rescale the graphs to see the data on the graphs, but the data table will show all data) Save the Logger Pro data out in a cmbl file. Restart Logger Pro. Open the cmbl file that you saved previously. Confirm that all data are still displayed correctly. <-- this is where you see something different, yes?
I believe this is what you described in your first posting. These are the steps I performed before my first response. If I misunderstood something, please let me know where our workflows are different.
In an early version of LabQuest we did have a problem with the way we stored the photogate data, so that Logger Pro could not load it correctly. We fixed that in a later release. That's why we often suggest that you update to the current versions of software; in addition to supporting new sensors and such, the new versions do correct issues that we've learned about after release.
There must be something different between your configuration and mine, or in our workflow. Let me know if you see something different.

I updated the firmware in the LabQuest from version 1.3 to 1.4 just in case. As expected it did not solve the problem. I guess you did not read my description closely enough: The data looked perfect after being imported into Logger Pro on my laptop. The problem occured after saving the Logger Pro file with the imported data. When I reopened this file, some columns were missing! I am beginning to believe it is a problem with the current version of Logger Pro - I have the newest version 3.8.2 for Windows installed! Maybe I should add that several persons on different computers have experienced the very same problem in our school! I find it a very strange problem and hope someone can help clarify it.
Regards,
Erik V.

Currently I'm having my students use the Print Screen function-> Paste the screen image into Paint where they edit and resize the image-> save the image on their local server space-> upload the image into google.
You ask a good question; ordinarily one would just copy the graph to the OS clipboard, and paste into the word processing document. That doesn't seem to work in Google Docs. We'll look into this; more soon.

Our school recently migrated away from Microsoft Word go the Google Education suite. (Cost savings) I'm trying to incorporate the graphs from LoggerPro into the google doc and I'm struggling to find an easy way to publish and upload the graphs.
Currently I'm having my students use the Print Screen function-> Paste the screen image into Paint where they edit and resize the image-> save the image on their local server space-> upload the image into google.
Is there an easier way? Thank you in advance! Ryan

Dear Vernier users
I have been using Vernier sensors along with the Logger Pro software in my Physics class for quite some time now. Recently I encountered a strange behavior of the Photogate sensor however, and I hope someone can help explain it. A Picket Fence was dropped between the arms of the Photogate sensor to study free fall. The data was collected by a LabQuest, but without a computer attached. Then later I opened Logger Pro on my computer, and when I plugged LabQuest in my computer via a USB cable, I was immediately prompted to import data from the LabQuest. I did so, and everthing looked perfect. Then I saved the Logger Pro file (via Save As) on my hard drive. When opening this file later, I was surprised to see some of the original data missing! The Time column and gate position column were still intact, but the Distance, Velocity and Acceleration columns had all disappeared! Those coloums were there just before I saved it. I hope someone can explain this behavior?
Regards,
Erik V.
