Vernier Optics Expansion Kit

The Vernier Optics Expansion Kit extends the Vernier Dynamics System to be used in optics experiments. Learn how the two lenses in a telescope work to magnify objects, image formation, the relationship between light, brightness, and distance and more!

OEKVernier Optics Expansion Kit

Add the Vernier Optics Expansion Kit to your Vernier Dynamics System to conduct optics experiments, such as image formation with lenses and light intensity vs. distance. You can even use the kit to build a basic telescope.

The Optics Expansion Kit includes:

The parts of the Optics Expansion Kit snap on to the track, so that the parts can be left in place while the track is moved. The three lenses are permanently mounted in three plastic supports. The light source is LED-based, so that it uses less energy and is cool to the touch. A rotating disc on the light source gives you the option of a radiant object, a point source, an "L" with 2 by 1 cm dimension, and parallel lines for resolution experiments. The power supply is the same as the LabQuest power supply. An additional aperture plate is included for experiments based on lens diameter and shape.

The Vernier Dynamics System comes with a track, and standard and plunger carts, but you can purchase additional tracks and carts for your needs. If you own more than one track, combine multiple tracks easily using our Track-to-Track Coupler to expand the track length needed in your experiment.

The Cart Picket Fence is a small plastic strip for doing photogate motion timing with dynamics carts. When the Cart Picket Fence passes through a photogate, the cart's velocity and acceleration as a function of time can be accurately measured.

FAN-VDSCart Fan

Several Physics Education Research–informed curricula make use of fans to study motion under a constant force. Our two-speed Cart Fan attaches to our dynamics track carts, and you can monitor the cart position with a Motion Detector.

You can get a beautiful parabolic position vs. time graph. The Cart Fan accessory attaches to a Vernier Cart using magnets, so they are easy to attach and remove.

PAD-VDSFriction Pad

After working hard to make our dynamics carts very low friction, we've now added some friction back, so that you and your students can study friction in a controlled way.

Add a Cart Friction Pad to your Vernier Dynamics System, and watch the carts move under very consistent friction force. Setting the friction amount is as simple as turning a knob.

CM-OEKColor Mixer Kit

Experiments in additive and subtractive color mixing can be easily and conveniently carried out using the Vernier Color Mixer Kit. The Color Mixer Kit consists of a three-color LED illuminator with power supply, a lens, and a double-sided screen. The intensity of the red, blue and green LEDs can be smoothly controlled from the light source.

Requires one Vernier Track to serve as an optics bench.

The Vernier Dynamics System Accessory Kit consists of two small and one large t-nut fasteners. The t-nuts are used to attach accessories such as a Dual Range Force Sensor or the Low-g Accelerometer to the Vernier Dynamics Carts. The t-nuts can be attached at any point along the three slots in the top of the carts.
