Radiation Monitors
Both radiation monitors detect alpha, beta, gamma, and X-ray radiation and have similar sensitivities. For computer- and LabQuest-based experiments the two monitors are interchangeable.
Vernier Radiation Monitor
Best choice for most radiation experiments
The Vernier Radiation Monitor detects alpha, beta, gamma, and X-ray radiation. It is a low-cost solution for data collection with Vernier interfaces.
Digital Radiation Monitor
The Digital Radiation Monitor detects alpha, beta, gamma, and X-ray radiation. It can be used with or without a Vernier interface.
Compare Radiation Monitors
The Vernier Radiation Monitor is lower cost, and must be used with an interface such as LabQuest or LabPro. The Digital Radiation Monitor is battery powered and has its own display. As a result it can be used without an interface, although it cannot log data on its own.
| Radiation Monitor | Detects | Battery | Display | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vernier Radiation Monitor | Alpha, beta, gamma, X-ray | None | None | $169 |
| Digital Radiation Monitor | Alpha, beta, gamma, X-ray | 9 V (supplied) | Digital scalar | $299 |
