Vernier-Ocean Optics Discount Program
Trade-Ins or Curriculum Sharing
Do you have a new application and are ready to upgrade your spectrophotometer? You may qualify for one of the most liberal discount programs in the industry—a nice little perk worth up to $1000 toward the purchase of these Ocean Optics products:
Ocean Optics VIS-NIR Spectrometer
- Vernier order code SP-VIS
- Regular price: $3464
- Discounted price: $2464
Ocean Optics UV-VIS Spectrometer
- Vernier order code SP-UV-VIS
- Regular price: $4619
- Discounted price: $3619
Note: These discounts do not apply to the Vernier Spectrometer or Ocean Optics Red Tide models, which are always sold at a discounted price, the same as our listed price. The educational discount pricing is available for U.S. customers only.
We realize that it's tough—and potentially costly—to keep up with ever-changing technology. That's why we've made our trade-in/curriculum program as painless as possible.
Vernier Software & Technology offers two funding programs:
Program 1 - Trade-In of an Older Spectrophotometer
Trade in any desktop spectrophotometer, in any condition, from any manufacturer, to earn a $1000 discount toward the purchase of an Ocean Optics VIS-NIR or UV-VIS spectrometer. There is no limit to the total discount amount. Discounts are contingent on our receipt of one older model for each discounted Ocean Optics model. We are committed to supporting customers in a world where technology changes rapidly, and to providing low-cost systems for education.
What's more, the trade-in spectrometers go to Worldwide Lab Improvement, a nonprofit U.S. corporation specializing in equipping laboratories and hospitals in need in developing countries.
Program 2 - Proposals for Science or Engineering Curriculum Development
Vernier Software & Technology offers discounts toward purchase of these two Ocean Optics models based on proposals for developing new science and engineering curricula. Discounts are limited to $1000 off each spectrometer's retail value. Awards will be granted based on the strength of the applicant's technical proposal and the uniqueness of the proposed curricula. The developed materials must be made available for publication at www.vernier.com, so that other educators may have free and unrestricted access to the information.
This program strives to promote the use of spectroscopy as a general-purpose, broad-based measurement tool, and to enable the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology in science and engineering curricula. Some examples of previous proposals include:
- Measuring the photoluminescence of polymers
- Detecting emission lines for various gas discharge tubes
- Recording absorption lines from bright nebulae
- Studying plant physiology
Selection of Recipients
Generally, awards for Program 1 will be made to all qualifying applicants. Awards for Program 2 will be made only for proposals deemed technically competent. Vernier Software & Technology reserves the right to decline an award to any applicant for any program at its sole discretion, and can cancel the program at any time.
Intellectual Property
Program 2 is intended to generate curricula, and to provide free and unrestricted information for the general public. Grant recipients must make available all such materials to Vernier Software & Technology for posting at www.vernier.com, and/or for publication in journals and other professional reporting mechanisms.
