For most uses in a high school or first year college physics class, Logger Pro will do the trick. Try opening the following file with a microphone connected to the data-collection interface:

Choose Open from the File menu. Open the Microphone folder in the Probes and Sensors folder. Then open the file “Microphone – oscilloscope”.

You can also set things up yourself. Change the data-collection rate to very fast sampling level (e.g.,5000 pts/s) for a very short data-collection duration (e.g., 0.025 seconds). Also set the program to repeat. For maximum speed of repeating, delete all data tables, meters, and other things that would slow things down.

Triggering can be added to easily if you want. To set up triggering, open the Data Collection dialog (choose Data Collection from the Experiment menu).
