Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to convert Logger Pro 2 files into Logger Pro 3 format. LP2 features do not map directly to LP3 features, so a simple file translation is not possible. LP2 used a binary format that could not be easily opened by other programs. In LP3, we changed to an XML-based text format that provides a lot more flexibility.

If you have data that were collected in LP2, you can export it as a text file by choosing File / Export As… The file that is saved can be imported by LP3 by choosing File / Import from Text File…

If you need an LP3 equivalent of an existing LP2 file the best way to create the new file is to launch LP3, then adjust the data collection parameters and graph settings as needed. Add any calculated columns. A file can be duplicated in a few minutes this way. Call us if you have questions.

Note that Logger Pro 3 comes with over a thousand experiment files, and may already have the file you need.

Note that you can have LP2 and LP3 installed on the same computer at the same time. You can even run them simultaneously, which makes it easy to inspect the settings of the LP2 and LP3 versions of the file.

Logger Pro 3.3 and later can open any Logger Pro 3-series file, created in 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.2.1. Earlier versions of Logger Pro 3 cannot open Logger Pro 3.3 and newer files.
