Why are the velocity values from my photogates incorrect?

Answer

There is a problem in Logger Pro 3.2 and 3.3 that does not always pass the width you specify into the velocity column correctly. This problem affects gates and pulse timing only. To modify how the velocity is calculated, you need to manually modify the calculation used to compute the column.

To do this, go under the data menu and select "Column Options", then choose the Velocity column. Change the equation:

0.05/"Gate Time 1"

so that the first number matches the length of your object in meters.

This problem is fixed in Logger Pro 3.4 and newer.
