Question

Why do objects in my video appear striped when I advance frame-by-frame?

Answer

Some video sources record two images for each frame of a video. When you play the movie at full speed, you usually don't notice this. If the movie is played frame-by-frame, objects that are moving rapidly may appear as double images, with each image appearing horizontally striped. This is especially noticeable if the object is moving quickly (such as a video of a ball toss). The solution is to deinterlace the movie. This operation cleans up each frame, which makes the movie much better suited to physics analysis. If you are capturing the movie from within Logger Pro version 3.4.6 or newer, the software should do this for you automatically.

If you import a movie for a different source, right-click on the movie and choose "Movie Options". In the resulting dialog box, check the option for "Deinterlace Movie".
