Vernier Tech Info Library TIL #1800
Question
LabQuest does not see attached sensors. (Auto ID)
Answer
Not all sensors are Auto ID capable. If you have older sensors with round DIN plugs and adapters, they are incapable of Auto ID. Some other sensors, such as older radiation monitors and drop counters, are also not Auto ID. You must manually set them up using the Meter screen Sensors menu.
When you try to setup sensors manually and do not see a list of all the available channels on LabQuest (CH1, CH2, etc.), try cycling the power by holding the power button down for three seconds, waiting until the power LED turns off, then pressing the power button to turn the unit back on. If cycling power does not work, try rebooting the LabQuest. See TIL 1777: How do I reboot a LabQuest?
Now go to the sensor setup screen, and see if the channels are listed. If you see "no devices found" or the only thing listed is "Internal Microphone", the LabQuest may need to be replaced. Please call Vernier Tech Support for further troubleshooting.
