Question

How do I project the LabQuest screen?

Answer

You can project the LabQuest screen using a free software product called the LabQuest Emulator. The Emulator runs on your computer, and looks just like the LabQuest, including the screen and the hardware buttons on the front panel. The screen responds to mouse clicks, just the way the LabQuest responds to stylus taps.

The emulator will collect data if a LabQuest with sensors is connected to the computer. In this way an instructor can demonstrate all of the functionality of the LabQuest to a group of students. Demonstrations of the LabQuest Emulator using an interactive white board are particularly effective.

The emulator supports the same sensors as LabQuest App 1.1 except for the internal microphone and USB sensors (e.g. spectrometers, Go! sensors). The emulator includes two virtual sensors that can be used to demonstrate the functionality of the internal microphone and spectrometers.

Download the emulator from http://www.vernier.com/labquest/emulator/

The emulator runs on PCs running XP and Vista, and on Macintosh computers running XP or Vista. The emulator is not currently available in a native OSX version.
