Why is the Logger Pro installer asking me for a password?

The Logger Pro (Windows) updater file (available in the downloads section of our web site) can also function as a full installer. If the updater finds an older version of Logger Pro, it will remove the older version and install the new version.

If the updater fails to find an old version of Logger Pro, it will prompt you for the password. Once the password is provided, the install will proceed as normal.

If you need the update password, please create an account on our web site. This allows instructors to access the installers and passwords any time, as well as email the links to students. This is a free service if you already own Logger Pro. You can sign up at:

Note for students: We do not provide accounts directly to students. Students need to work with their instructor to get a copy of the software. If you need something right away, there is a free 30 day demo version of Logger Pro 3 available at:

Note for international customers: At this time, we are only offering Logger Pro 3 download and distribution services to our customers within the United States and Canada. Contact Vernier International or your local dealer and they will be able to provide licensed schools with installers and passwords.
