Can the Ethanol Sensor be used in liquid?

No. The Ethanol Sensor, order code ETH-BTA, $109 is a gas sensor that detects ethanol vapor. The sensor needs to be placed above a liquid sample. The use of Tape for Ethanol Sensor, order code ETH-TAPE, $3 (one roll is included with purchase of the sensor) will protect the sensing element if it accidentally splashed or briefly submerged in the sample during data-collection.

Submerging the sensor in liquid will not give accurate results and will damage the sensor. Please note that using the sensor in a liquid falls outside normal use. Any damage to the sensor will not be covered under warranty.
