Mini GC Plus: Quick Guide Parameters to the New Compounds

*Always start by measuring a pure compound to see if your mixture and/or unknown can be detected by the Mini GC Plus. See a list of compounds that can be detected here: Vernier Mini GC Plus, order code GC2-MINI, $1,799

For pure samples of amides, heterocycles, halogenated hydrocarbons, nitroalkane/aromatics, phosphonates, and sulfides, follow these instructions to start:
1. Set the sensitivity to High.
2. Set the start temperature at ~10°C below the boiling point of the compound.
3. Make sure the final temperature ends above the boiling point.
4. The pressure should initially be set to 7 kPa.

You will need to tweak your setup for your particular compound. You will also need to play around with the settings for mixtures. Some examples of pure compounds and their temperature/pressure profiles are listed in the attached document.
