Advanced Chemistry Workshop
Learn how to integrate probeware technology into your advanced chemistry courses.
The University of Arizona and Vernier host a 2-day workshop for chemistry laboratory education in Tucson, Arizona. You will have the opportunity to use Vernier probeware to conduct experiments such as an acid-base titration, Beer’s law, and determining an equilibrium constant. The workshop includes a light breakfast, lunch, and a copy of Advanced Chemistry with Vernier.
Join us for a comprehensive exploration of a wide range of chemistry laboratory concepts. Experiments include:
- Determining the Mole Ratio in a Chemical Reaction
- Acid-Base Titration: Determining the Ka of a Weak Acid
- Beer’s Law
- The Kinetics of a Chemical Reaction
- A Redox Titration
- The Determination of an Equilibrium Constant
- The Molar Volume of a Gas
- The Rydberg Constant (gas discharge tube emissions)
Data collection and analysis will be conducted using a computer, the Vernier LabQuest, and a variety of Vernier sensors. In addition, University of Arizona chemistry instructors will present special lab implementation sessions.
The $199 registration fee includes a free copy of Vernier’s Advanced Chemistry with Vernier lab book, a $48 value. These workshops are eligible for graduate credit.
