Biology / AP Biology Workshops
Learn how to integrate probeware technology into your biology and AP biology classes.
Learn how to integrate probeware into your biology and AP* Biology classes in these 2-day workshops in Denver and Baltimore. A variety of experiments will be offered that are correlated to the new AP Biology framework.
Specific emphasis will be placed on how to conduct inquiry-based laboratory investigations, such as cell respiration, transpiration, and a biofuels investigation using the SpectroVis Plus spectrophotometer. Attendees will also have the option to conduct experiments in human physiology, ecology, and biotechnology.
The workshop includes a light breakfast, lunch, and a copy of Investigating Biology through Inquiry.
Here are some of the experiments covered:
- Hand Grip Activity – Hand Dynamometer
- Cell Respiration – CO2 Gas Sensor
- Yeast Metabolism & Evolution of Yeast – CO2 Gas Sensor
- Testing Catalase – O2 Gas Sensor
- Plant Pigments – SpectroVis Plus
- Primary Productivity – Dissolved Oxygen Sensor and Primary Productivity Kit
- Introduction to Biofules & Evolution of Cellobiase – SpectroVis Plus
The $199 registration fee includes a free copy of Vernier’s Investigating Biology through Inquiry lab book, a $48 value. These workshops are eligible for graduate credit.
