Elaine Nam, Ph.D.
Director of Chemistry
Elaine earned her B.A. in Chemistry from Pomona College, her M.S. in Chemistry from San Francisco State, and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Washington, where her research focused on synthesis of cysteinate-ligated non-heme iron enzyme analogues reproducing key spectroscopic features. As a laboratory instructor for general chemistry at the University of Washington, her teaching experience included the use of TI calculators with LabPro and Vernier probeware.
Elaine serves as a volunteer on the Executive Committee for the local Portland section of the American Chemical Society and as a volunteer for Willamette West Habitat for Humanity. During the winter months, Elaine can be found snowshoeing and snowboarding.
