Download the free Vernier EV3 Sensor Block to use LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 software with the NXT Sensor Adapter and Vernier sensors.

To use the Vernier NXT Adapter with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 software, you need the Vernier EV3 Sensor Block. This is a free download. Instructions for importing the block into your MINDSTORMS EV3 software and using it for programming are included in the download.

The Vernier Sensor Block does not support live sensor readings in Port View in the programming portion of the EV3 software, or sensor readings in the data-logging portion of the EV3 software.

Vernier Mars Challenge
with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3

This curriculum guide offers an opportunity to introduce students to the physical concepts of electricity and magnetism through exciting hands-on robotics activities. By coupling robotics design with NASA’s space program, students will gain an understanding of scientific principles in a real-world application.

Students will learn to use a Vernier Differential Voltage Probe and Magnetic Field Sensor as they build a solar tracker, a magnet detector, a battery tester, and a robotic compass. This guide was written for teachers with the Educator version of the LEGO EV3 robotics system. It is intended to be used for a week-long summer camp, a STEM classroom module, or an after-school club. Detailed descriptions of recommended activities are supplied for each unit, as well as optional extensions for early finishers. Sample programs and building guides are provided for all activities to aid teachers in their instruction.
