Complete this form to initiate your Vernier Circuit Board 2 safety recall.
This is an important safety recall. We recently learned that two of the components on the Vernier Circuit Board 2 (order code VCB2) can pose a safety hazard. Our records show that you purchased one or more of these from us between August 2015 and April 2018.
The affected parts on the board are the switches labeled SW4 and SW1. The issue is that it is possible to place the switch between two positions. When this happens, the power can short circuit and overheat the switch to dangerous temperatures.
If batteries are in the battery holders and the switch is between two positions, the batteries can short-circuit and overheat to dangerous levels.
The affected products shipped prior to April 11, 2018 with the mark VCB2 REV 1 PPRL 2015 and VCB2 REV 1A PPRL 2015 below the pins 35, 30, and 31.
To what address should updated units be returned?
For customers outside the U.S, please include your country in the "Additional Information" above. You will be contacted to make the appropriate arrangements to put your units back into good working order.
You will receive a prepaid UPS label to return the unit(s) for a free retrofit. We will return the Vernier Circuit Board 2 units to you later this summer, in time for the next school year. If you need to receive your circuit boards back sooner than that, let us know. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
