From Terra Bella Middle School, one of our winners for the 30th anniversary technology grant:
“When I read that we had been awarded a Vernier grant, I was delighted,” Helmstetler said. “This will allow the paradigm shift I have hoped for — kids testing the world around them rather than being tested to oblivion.”
Just the day before Tucker sent in her application, her chemistry class had hosted the school’s fourth-graders for lab-testing the concept of force, using Vernier technology. The older students were leading the younger in discovering how a graphing line would move up or down depending on which data they gave it. In just a few seconds, the high-schoolers had turned into teachers.
The University of Oregon’s 2011 Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Robert Berdahl, retired president of the Association of American Universities, and Christine and David Vernier, co-founders of Vernier Software and Technology in Beaverton.
The awards are given annually to as many as three people “who by their knowledge and skills have made a significant contribution to the cultural development of Oregon or society as a whole.” They are the UO’s highest awards for service.
On October 13th, Vernier ranked 6th in the 2-99 employees category for healthiest employers in Oregon. The Healthiest Oregon Employers Award from the Portland Business Journal recognized organizations that are committed to creating a healthy workplace. Thanks to our health and fitness committee for our health-promoting activities.
Use saved carts to create your wish list of Vernier products. Saved carts are great for preparing an order that needs to go through an approval process, a wish list for grant money, and comparing different equipment configurations.
You will see two new buttons at the bottom of your cart to let you save your cart and load previously saved carts. Try them out and let us know what you think.
