Vernier’s KidWind Advanced Wind Experiment Kit, as well as its associated lab book, Renewable Energy with Vernier, was recently named a winner of the 2015 Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence in the New Product category. The awards program honors innovative software, hardware, network, apps, and web-based products that break new ground, as well as those products that have received significant enhancements. A panel of more than 30 educators tested hundreds of entries and chose the winners.
The KidWind Advanced Wind Experiment Kit helps students in grades 7 through college explore advanced aspects of wind turbine technology by testing different blade designs, gear ratios, generators, and devices to measure electrical and weightlifting power. The Renewable Energy with Vernier lab book contains a wide range of experiments that utilize the kit and address objectives in integrated sciences, physical science, physics, and environmental science.
