LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Core Set is a hands-on robotics and coding solution that engages students using the familiar LEGO® brick platform and easy-to-learn, easy-to-use EV3 Lab or EV3 Programming app.

Description

LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Core Set is a hands-on, cross-curricular STEM solution that engages students by providing the resources to design, build, and code their creations. A Core Set supports two students as they practice creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.

The system includes the EV3 Intelligent Brick, a compact and powerful programmable computer. To program the EV3 brick, students use EV3 software to create code that can control motors, collect sensor data, and bring their creation to life.

By using hands-on robotics kits, students produce simple coding sequences and commands that link cause and effect using input/output devices; use intuitive prediction tools to gain first-hand experience in forming hypotheses; and integrate math and science using physical constraints, and units of measurement.

Key Learning Values

Students design and build programmable robots using high quality motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles, and other technical components.

EV3 Software and App

The easy-to-learn, easy-to-use EV3 Lab software (Windows® and macOS) and EV3 Programming app (iOS, Android, and Chromebook and Windows 10 touch devices) are optimized for coding in the classroom. Coding is done by dragging and dropping icons into a line to form commands allowing students to build simple programs. Then they easily and intuitively build on their skills until they are developing complex algorithms.

The data logging feature of EV3 Lab is a powerful science tool for carrying out experiments. It is easy to predict, collect, view, analyze and manipulate data from sensors and see the data in interactive graphs. The software is based on LabVIEW, the industry-leading graphical programming language, and is optimized for classroom usage.
