1) Separate the light source/cuvette holder from the detector. To do this, look at the “bottom” (not the underside) of the light source end of the spectrometer and find the 2 holes in which the set screws are deeply recessed (about 6cm, or ~2.5 in.). One hole is to the right of the fan. Use a flat head screwdriver to loosen the two set screws – they don’t come all the way out.
2) After you have separated the 2 pieces of the spectrometer, remove the lens from the detector aperture. The lens is a charcoal grayish piece that is threaded onto the detector. Put this lens in a safe place – it is more expensive than it looks.
3) Poke one end of the fiber optic cable into the aperture housing and screw it into place.
