First, get a small screwdriver with a flat head. We found one at Ace Hardware, for $0.89, that works perfectly. The screwdriver’s head should be about 1/4 inch and its length should be at least 2 1/2 inches. There are two set screws you need to loosen. These screws are on the end of light source/cuvette holder part of the spectrometer and they are inside channels that have a white plastic liner.
Loosen the set screws until the two parts of the spectrometer can be separated. The screws should stay in place inside the channels. Please see the attached Microsoft Word file for a photo showing the location of the set screws.

This works for all the Ocean Optics spectrometers we sell, including the Red Tide VIS-NIR, Red Tide UV-VIS, and the V-SPEC.
