Data Collection with Go Wireless pH/Electrode Amplifier FAQs

Q: What are the steps to start data collection with a Go Wireless pH?

Q: Can I calibrate the Go Wireless pH?
A: Yes, follow the instructions for your software:

Using Go Wireless app on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch
1. Connect the Go Wireless pH to your device with Go Wireless app.
2. Tap the radio icon in the upper right corner. Choose Calibrate pH.
3. Remove the storage bottle from the Go Wireless pH, rinse the tip of the electrode with distilled water, pat dry, and place the electrode in the first buffer solution so the tip is immersed.
4. Once the voltage reading has stabilized, tap Add in the box under the appropriate buffer pH. Note: If you are using a buffer not shown, tap on the buffer value to change.
5. Repeat this process for two or three buffer solutions. Your stored calibration equation will be shown under the table.
6. Tap Save to save to sensor.

Using Graphical Analysis GW on iPad, iPod, iPod touch
1. Connect the Go Wireless pH to your device with Graphical Analysis.
2. Tap the radio icon in the upper right corner. Choose Calibrate pH.

1. Connect the Go Wireless pH to your LabQuest. The pH reading will be displayed.
2. Choose Calibrate from the Sensors menu and tap Calibrate Now.
3. Remove the storage bottle from the Go Wireless pH, rinse the tip of the sensor with distilled water, pat dry, and place the sensor in the first buffer solution so the tip is immersed.
4. Enter the pH of the buffer solution as the known value for Reading 1. When the voltage reading stabilizes, tap Keep.
5. Rinse the pH sensor with distilled water, pat dry, and place it in the second buffer solution.
6. In the Reading 2 field, enter the pH of the second buffer solution. When the voltage reading stabilizes, tap Keep.
7. Tap OK to complete the calibration process. The calibration is automatically stored to the Electrode Amplifier.

After you store a calibration to the Go Wireless pH, this new calibration will be used automatically, regardless of the interface to which the pH Sensor is connected.

Q: Can multiple devices collect data from one Go Wireless pH at the same time?
A: While you can monitor sensor values from multiple devices, once a device connects to a sensor (indicated by the LED flashing green) only that device will be able to view data from that sensor.

Q: Can I use more than one Go Wireless pH at a time on the same device?

Using Go Wireless app and Graphical Analysis
Currently, you can collect data from just one Go Wireless at a time.

Using LabQuest App (may require additional hardware, see How do I know if my LabQuest will work with Go Direct Sensors and Go Wireless devices?)
With LabQuest App version 2.5 – 2.8.3, you can connect to up to 8 Go Wireless pH sensors at one time. This is limited by the number of meter screens we support. With LabQuest App version 2.8.4 or newer, you can connect up to three Go Wireless sensors.

Q: Can I use Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier with other Vernier sensors?
A: The Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier is terminated with a BNC connector. Therefore, you can use any of our BNC electrodes with it.

Q: Can you program the Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier to log data offline?
A: The Go Wireless pH probe does not log data offline.

Q: Can I collect data while the battery is charging?
A: Yes, charging does not interfere with data collection.

Q: Can I collect data “wired” to a computer using the charging cable?
A: No, the charging cable will only charge the unit. There is no sensor data communication via this cable.

Q: Can I change units?
A: Yes, follow the instructions for your software:

1. Press the power button on Go Wireless EA to turn it on. The sensor LED will flash red.
2. Start the Go Wireless app.
3. Find your Go Wireless EA from the list of available sensors and tap the radio icon on the right side. When the sensor is connected with the software, the LED will flash green.
4. Under the Units section, there are two options: mV and pH. Select the appropriate unit. The unit selected will be remembered the next time the device connects.
5. Select Connect.

Using Graphical Analysis GW on iPad, iPod, iPod touch
1. Press the power button on Go Wireless pH to turn it on. The sensor LED will flash red.
2. Start Graphical Analysis. Tap Create Experiment and choose Wireless Sensors to view the list of available wireless sensors.
3. Find your Go Wireless EA from the list of available sensors and tap the radio icon on the right side. When the sensor is connected with the software, the LED will flash green.
4. Under the Units section, there are two options: mV and pH. Select the appropriate unit. The unit selected will be remembered the next time the device connects.
5. Select Connect.

1. To collect data in mV, tap on the red box on the Meter screen, select Go Wireless, then select Set Units, then mV.
2. Collect data as desired.

Q: What are my unit options?
A: Currently, the default is pH. Units can be changed to mV.

Q: How long does the battery last?
A: If the electrode amplifier is on and constantly taking data, the battery will last approximately five days. If it is turned off while not in use, it will last significantly longer.
