The Vernier Video Analysis app runs in a browser. As a sophisticated application using many advanced calls in a browser, Video Analysis requires a nearly current version of compatible browsers.

Video Analysis runs and is routinely tested in the Chrome, Safari, and Edge browsers.

Internet Explorer is not supported at all. Firefox may work for many videos, but due to incomplete video encoding support in Firefox we no longer test in that browser. We recommend Chrome or Safari.

Compatible browsers can run on ChromeOS, macOS, Windows 10 and 11, iPadOS, iOS, and Android.

Because Video Analysis is updated frequently, and updates are automatically distributed to users, VA requires that the browser be in the current version or one version older only.

You can determine the current browser versions at

It is unusual to have to manually update browsers; unless actively blocked they update themselves to the current version as a matter of maintaining security patches.
