To manually set up a nonauto-ID sensor in DataMate perform the following steps:

1) Connect the sensor to channel CH 1 on the LabPro or CBL 2.
2) Start the DataMate program. After the program gets to the main screen, press the [Clear] button on the calculator. (This step resets the program to its default settings.)
3) Press [1] to choose the Setup option.
4) A setup screen will appear and a triangular cursor will appear to the left of channel CH 1. Press the [Enter] button on the calculator.
5) A list of sensors will appear. Select your sensor from this list. You may have to select the More option until you see your sensor listed. After selecting the sensor, you may see a screen from which you can choose a unit.
6) When you have selected your sensor, the program takes you back to the setup screen. The default data collection mode is to collect data as a function of time (Time Graph) and the default experiment length in seconds is shown. Select OK to return to the main screen to collect data.

If you want to change the length of the experiment, follow these steps:

1) On the setup screen, press the [up arrow] on the calculator, and press [Enter].
2) Select Time Graph.
3) Select Change Time Settings.
4) Enter a time between samples in seconds and Press [Enter].
5) Enter the number of samples you wish to collect and Press [Enter]. (The number of samples that you can collect depends upon the number and type of sensors used. The Datamate Guidebook available on the Vernier Web site (www.vernier.com) provides guidelines in choosing a number of samples.)
6) Select OK until you get back to the main screen.
7) You are now ready to collect data.
