Take advantage of your Go Direct®<\/sup> Structures & Materials Tester<\/a> (GDX-VSMT<\/nobr>)\u00a0or Vernier Structures & Materials Tester<\/a> (VSMT<\/nobr>) and Graphical Analysis Pro<\/a> regardless of whether you are in the classroom or teaching remotely. Use the features of\u00a0Graphical Analysis Pro<\/a>\u00a0to embed a video of an experiment that you can sync with\u00a0the data.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> you cannot use the VSMT Displacement sensor (from the original VSMT<\/a>) with Graphical Analysis. The sensor does not auto-ID and cannot be manually set up.<\/p>\n

This example shown above is based on the Beam Deflection<\/strong> activity in our Beams to Bridges<\/a> activity book. Including video adds context to the data. The file includes test data to compare the flexibility of different beam profiles. Share the experiment file and the activity handout with your students.<\/p>\n

If you are conducting a Bridge Competition<\/strong> in your class, consider creating a record of each bridge by creating a video and syncing it with the data. The video can help identify what actually failed as well as documenting the maximum force applied. You can annotate the video or graph with the name of the student and the mass of the bridge. A closeup view of the bridge is most useful in this case. This is a nice way to create a lasting memento of your students’ efforts.<\/p>\n
