{"id":1711,"date":"2017-05-18T14:20:47","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T21:20:47","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T07:00:00","slug":"1711","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/1711","title":{"rendered":"Why is my SensorDAQ not working?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By far, the most common problem with getting the SensorDAQ up and running has to do with the NI-DAQmx USB driver software. <\/p>\n<p>Here are some tips for troubleshooting DAQmx, as well as some other issues that commonly present problems:<\/p>\n<p><b>Did you install the DAQmx software?<\/b><br \/>\n1. You can see the currently installed version of NI-DAQmx by running the Measurement &#038; Automation Explorer (MAX) and then expanding the Software category. MAX is installed with DAQmx, so if you do not have this software then you should install DAQmx.<\/p>\n<p>2. Connect the USB cable to SensorDAQ and attach the other end of the USB cable to any USB port on your computer. If the NI-DAQmx driver software is properly installed, the computer should provide a Found New Hardware message and the SensorDAQ LED next to the USB cable port on the SensorDAQ should be blinking. If not, install DAQmx.<\/p>\n<p>3. Open one of the SensorDAQ example VIs found in the LabVIEWexamples directory. Does it open without warnings? If it opens but gives a lot of warnings, it cannot find DAQmx subVIs, install DAQmx.<\/p>\n<p><b>Did you install DAQmx after installing LabVIEW?<\/b><br \/>\nLabVEW must be installed first. If you installed the DAQmx before you installed labVIEW, reinstall DAQmx. If you are using a version of LabVIEW that is not the Education Edition, you will need to install the SensorDAQ files. <\/p>\n<p>2. Can you find the SensorDAQ examples in the LabVIEWexamplesVernier directory? If not, then you must install the SensorDAQ files.<\/p>\n<p><b>Are you using a Mac computer?<\/b><br \/>\nThe DAQmx driver for SensorDAQ does not work on Mac computers.<\/p>\n<p><b>How to get NI-DAQmx software<\/b><br \/>\nOption 1. NI-DAQmx is shipped with LabVIEW as part of the Device Driver DVD.<br \/>\nOption 2. The NI website, ni.com.
