{"id":2128,"date":"2009-12-15T18:14:58","date_gmt":"2009-12-16T02:14:58","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T07:00:00","slug":"2128","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/2128","title":{"rendered":"Logger Pro sees my WDSS by name, but then fails to collect data."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a Windows-only problem.<\/p>\n<p>Logger <i>Pro<\/i> requires Bluetooth radios that use the Microsoft driver. Some third-party drivers will allow Logger <i>Pro<\/i> to see the WDSS, but will not work properly to provide data communication. For these drivers, you&#8217;ll see the following symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>Launch Logger <i>Pro<\/i>.<br \/>\nTurn on a fully-charged WDSS.<br \/>\nChoose Connect Interface &#8211;> Wireless &#8211;> Scan for Wireless Devices from the Experiment menu.<br \/>\nLogger <i>Pro<\/i> scans for a while&#8211;possibly requiring several rescans (normal for Windows).<br \/>\nLogger <i>Pro<\/i> displays a dialog where you can see and choose the WDSS by name. In other words, Logger <i>Pro<\/i> definitely sees your particular WDSS.<br \/>\nYou click to connect, and Logger <i>Pro<\/i> immediately displays a dialog stating that Logger <i>Pro<\/i> could not connect to the WDSS, and suggests steps for troubleshooting. <\/p>\n<p>If this happens, then it is very likely that you have a non-Microsoft driver, made by Broadcom (aka WIDCOMM), installed for your bluetooth radio.   <\/p>\n<p>The solution is to remove the 3rd-party driver, and install the Microsoft driver. <\/p>\n<p>There are steps available at <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/bthelp\/#remove_driver\">https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/bthelp\/#remove_driver<\/a><\/p>\n<p>to assist you in removing the non-MS driver. Unfortunately we cannot write exact steps for all non-MS drivers, since their behavior and appearance will vary with publisher and release version. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a Windows-only problem.
