{"id":21403,"date":"2024-06-27T10:02:51","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T17:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/?p=21403"},"modified":"2025-04-21T15:03:04","modified_gmt":"2025-04-21T22:03:04","slug":"how-to-deliver-progressive-web-apps-to-managed-chromeos-devices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/21403","title":{"rendered":"How to deliver Progressive Web Apps to managed ChromeOS devices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These instructions are for IT professionals to assist with pushing Vernier Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) to managed ChromeOS devices. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently Graphical Analysis, Vernier Video Analysis, Spectral Analysis, and Instrumental Analysis are available as PWAs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google has <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/chrome\/answer\/9658361?hl=en&amp;co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop\">instructions on how a user can install a PWA<\/a> on their own Chromebook.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In contrast, the steps here are for IT professionals configuring the Google Administrative Console to deliver Graphical Analysis, Vernier Video Analysis, Spectral Analysis, and Instrumental Analysis to users. The steps also include steps to deliver Graphical Analysis Pro and Vernier Video Analysis in fully activated form, without requiring users to know or enter a separate license key.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you need<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sufficient credentials to manage an OU (Organizational Unit) in the Google Administrative Console<\/li>\n<li>For paid apps, a working license key for Vernier Video Analysis or Graphical Analysis Pro. The key may be delivered to you in the form of a nine-character string such as E3w5Iu28U, or it may be the last nine characters of a URL in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/videoanalysis.app\/?key=E3w5Iu28U\"><a href=\"https:\/\/videoanalysis.app?key=E3w5Iu28U\">https:\/\/videoanalysis.app?key=E3w5Iu28U<\/a><\/a> You may want to test <em>your<\/em> key (not this sample one) by using the full URL in a Chrome browser.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The steps here are written for <strong>Vernier Video Analysis<\/strong>. The steps are the same for other PWAs, but the app URL will be different.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access the Google Administrative Console at <a href=\"https:\/\/admin.google.com\/\"><a href=\"https:\/\/admin.google.com\">https:\/\/admin.google.com<\/a><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the Admin sidebar, navigate to the Devices -&gt; Chrome -&gt; Apps &amp; Extensions section, highlight the organizational unit you want to force install to and go to the Users &amp; browsers tab.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u2018+\u2019 in lower right corner and Add by URL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcDVffy0bcom8Cwl2MrYm6PgGYE6hhEPDYSeeJHn-DPyjRolDMMo96RUkYy0ZGCWzZpcrYdWzYhssOLLCcMYODx0qzTEE67cxbmzzZN-qiFZGlnfvsffBoi0NCOGebDnQxqt9gZE9IeS9bxekA3DT1MFhVC?key=z11-pcztz4aVDh4sPTWHJg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select the \u201cOpen as a Progressive Web App (PWA) only\u201d radio button and enter the address for the Vernier Video Analysis, <strong>videoanalysis.app<\/strong>, in the URL field. The URL will autofill in the PWA Manifest ID section.
