{"id":2184,"date":"2010-05-04T22:29:29","date_gmt":"2010-05-05T05:29:29","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2024-08-06T15:45:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-06T22:45:06","slug":"2184","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/2184","title":{"rendered":"How are magnets installed in the Adjustable End Stops?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can install magnets in the <a href=\"\/product\/adjustable-end-stop\/\">Adjustable End Stop<\/a> (<nobr>AS-VDS<\/nobr>) so that dynamics carts elastically bounce off the End Stop at low speeds. But the magnets must be installed in a certain orientation to work as intended. To install magnets in the adjustable end stop, use the following procedure.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove the teardrop from the end stop.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the magnet (supplied with the end stop) into the teardrop, oriented so that the outside of the teardrop will attract the south-pointing end of a compass needle.<\/li>\n<li>Insert a foam plug (supplied with the end stop) into the teardrop.<\/li>\n<li>Re-insert the tear drop into the end stop and fasten the screw.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you like, test by holding the compass near the cart or stop, in the same position as an approaching cart, and verify that the south-pointing end of the compass is attracted to the cart.<\/p>\n<p>Note: Our older, green, aluminum, VDS carts all came with magnets, foam plugs, teardrop inserts, and a hex key to remove and replace the screw holding the teardrop to the cart end; you can follow the same procedure to install magnets in those carts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/til\/2103\/\">Cart and Track System Troubleshooting and FAQs<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can install magnets in the so that dynamics carts elastically bounce off the End Stop at low speeds.
