{"id":2185,"date":"2019-10-11T18:20:22","date_gmt":"2019-10-12T01:20:22","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-02-07T14:30:10","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T22:30:10","slug":"2185","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/2185","title":{"rendered":"How can I set the time of the first frame used for video analysis to zero?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using Vernier Video Analysis<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This application automatically sets the first marked data point to be time = 0 in the data table and on graphs. <em>Optional: use the start triangle, <\/em>\u25b2<em>, on the video playback bar to restrict the video playback to always start from that frame. <\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using Logger <i>Pro<\/i><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By default, time zero on the video analysis time scale is the start of a movie, because the first frame is marked with a zero timestamp. To set zero of the time scale to coincide with the first point used for video analysis, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Double-click the movie to open Movie Options.<\/li>\n<li>Check <strong>First VA point defines movie time zero<\/strong> in the Video Analysis options.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using Video Physics<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Offset feature is not built into Video Physics. To do this analysis on your data, you will need to export the data to Graphical Analysis App. Once your data is in Graphical Analysis, you can add a calculated column: &#8220;Time&#8221; &#8211; the offset value.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Switch to table view<\/li>\n<li>Tap the three dots in the header of the time column<\/li>\n<li>Choose Add Calculated Column<\/li>\n<li>Set name to something like time offset<\/li>\n<li>Set units<\/li>\n<li>Tap Insert Expression<\/li>\n<li>Choose X+A<\/li>\n<li>Set X = Time<\/li>\n<li>Set A = The negative of your offset value.
