{"id":2261,"date":"2016-04-15T01:01:53","date_gmt":"2016-04-15T08:01:53","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2020-09-15T07:38:15","modified_gmt":"2020-09-15T14:38:15","slug":"2261","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/2261","title":{"rendered":"How do I delete the data files that my students save to the LabQuest?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"notice\" style=\"border: 1px solid red; padding: 1em; text-align: center; margin-bottom: 1em;\">\n<h3>This information pertains to the original LabQuest.<\/h3>\n<p>If you have LabQuest 2, see <a href=\"\/til\/3580\/\">this article<\/a>.<br \/>\nIf you have LabQuest 3, see <a href=\"\/til\/8364\/\">this article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>There are two ways to delete files from the original LabQuest:<\/p>\n<p><b>Option 1&#8211;Update LabQuest App and Delete All User-Created Files (Recommended)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Use the Delete-mydata.lqu, a LabQuest update file that is designed to delete all user-created data files (.qmbl) that have been saved to a LabQuest&#8217;s internal memory. This update will not affect stored lab instructions.<br \/>1. Download the file delete-mydata.lqu from<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.vernier.com\/til\/2261\/delete-mydata.lqu\">http:\/\/www2.vernier.com\/til\/2261\/delete-mydata.lqu<\/a><br \/>2. Copy the file to a USB thumb drive or SD drive.<br \/>3. Connect the USB\/SD drive to a LabQuest.<br \/>4. Tap Home at the bottom of the LabQuest screen and choose Control Panel. Then, choose System Information.<br \/>5. Click &#8220;Update LabQuest&#8221;.<br \/>6. Click the USB drive or SD card icon.<br \/>7. Select the file &#8220;delete-mydata.lqu&#8221;.<br \/>8. Click &#8220;Update&#8221; to start the update. When prompted to install the update, select &#8220;Yes.&#8221;<br \/>9. When the update is complete, close the System Information window.<\/p>\n<p><b>Option 2&#8211;Delete Individual Files<\/b><br \/>If you want to delete a few specific files on LabQuest, the best choice is to use the LabQuest Browser in Logger <i>Pro<\/i>:<br \/>1. Connect the LabQuest to a computer and start on the computer.<br \/>2. Choose LabQuest Browser &gt; Delete from the File menu in Logger <i>Pro<\/i>. You will see a list of files on the LabQuest.<br \/>3. Select the files you want to remove. Click Delete.<\/p>\n<p>Note: If the LabQuest has too many files for Logger <i>Pro<\/i> to display, you will have to use the tool on LabQuest to delete files.
