For example, there was a way to that an audio tone corresponding to a sensor reading, but there was no way to control the volume. These options were greatly improved in version 3.8.4 and new features have been added since.

Note that these features are only available on the Windows version of Logger Pro.

The menu item File/Accessibility in Logger Pro 3.87 and newer has five choices:

Choose Settings to get to the Settings dialog. This offers several options:
– Continuous Tone Meters
Checking the Meter checkbox and then closing this dialog will start to play a tone with a frequency derived from the value of the checked meter. The frequency is related in a linear way with the latest measurement for that meter. For example, you can hear a frequency increase when the temperature of a probe increases. Note that this can also be useful for sighted people. It is a way to find shorts, loose wires, intermittent connections, etc. It is also useful to alert you for an event that you have to wait for, like a peak on a gas chromatograph experiment.

Most of the things at the left of the Accessibility Settings dialog are to control the Audio Trace Graph. This is a sound “playback” of a graph included in the experiment.

Playback length sets the time period for the audio playback of the graph.

“Pop” on Graph Grid Lines, will cause a sound to occur as the graph is playing back, each time the trace reaches a grid line. Note that these “pops” are very subtle.

The Traces/Fits to Play choices select what data are played back on the Audio Graph playback.

The Start Playback starts the Audio Graph playback playing.

The Audio Feedback checkbox is used to give audio feedback during calibration of sensors and during the warm up periods of calibration of Mini-GCs and spectrophotometers. It is off by default, unless a screen reader (like JAWS) is installed, but it can be turned on any time. Basically, if this box is checked it makes it easier for a blind student to do calibrations.

Start Audio Graph Trace starts the Audio Graph playback playing, using the settings specified as the default or in the File/Accessibility/Settings dialog.

Timer is a simple count-down audio timer. You can set a time period in hours, minutes, and seconds. A sound will occur when that time has elapsed. You can specify the sound to be produced from seven choices, from a simple click to a baby crying. If you do not hear these sounds, check your volume level.

Emboss Graph will print a graph on Braile printers. It also allow you to set the font and scale factor for embossed graph.

Embossing Options allow you to set the font and scale factor for graphs printed on Braile printers.

The Accessibility menu item was added to Logger Pro in 3.8, but the features were not well-implemented.
