The most common is to place a string in the groove of the pulley, as in Atwood&#8217;s Machine experiments. For this configuration, set the Photogate distance calibration to <b>In Groove<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, if you are rolling the edge of the pulley along a surface, you want to use the circumference of the outside edge.
