{"id":2736,"date":"2017-11-08T21:03:57","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T05:03:57","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2020-09-11T09:20:24","modified_gmt":"2020-09-11T16:20:24","slug":"2736","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/2736","title":{"rendered":"What do the error codes from the LabQuest Email Configuration Test mean?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"notice\" style=\"border: 1px solid red; padding: 1em; text-align: center; margin-bottom: 1em;\">\n<h3>This information pertains to LabQuest 2 and LabQuest 3.<\/h3>\n<p>The original LabQuest does not support this functionality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>When you setup a LabQuest to send e-mail, (Home|Connections|Email,) and press the test button, it will send a test e-mail from the LabQuest to the &#8220;From&#8221; address. If it goes well, it will report &#8220;Message sent successfully&#8221; but if there is a problem it will report an error code.<\/p>\n<p>The error number by itself isn&#8217;t normally enough information to diagnose the problem, but under the error message is a little triangle that says &#8220;Details&#8221;. Tap on that and it should list some much more useful information.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/2736-PressDetails.png\" alt=\"2736-PressDetails.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this example we&#8217;ve setup the LabQuest to try to contact smtp.example.edu, (which doesn&#8217;t exist.)<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/2736-DetailsPressed.png\" alt=\"2736-DetailsPressed.png\" \/><br \/>And the error message says it cannot locate it.
