{"id":3243,"date":"2014-07-25T19:58:17","date_gmt":"2014-07-26T02:58:17","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T07:00:00","slug":"3243","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/3243","title":{"rendered":"Can I use the Vernier Energy Sensor in place of other voltage or current sensors?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In many cases you can use the Vernier Energy sensor in place of the following sensors:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/product\/differential-voltage-probe\/\">Differential Voltage Probe<\/a> (<nobr>DVP-BTA<\/nobr>)<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/product\/current-probe\/\">Current Probe<\/a> (<nobr>DCP-BTA<\/nobr>)<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/product\/voltage-probe\/\">Voltage Probe<\/a> (<nobr>VP-BTA<\/nobr>)<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/product\/30-volt-voltage-probe\/\">30-Volt Voltage Probe<\/a> (<nobr>30V-BTA<\/nobr>)<\/p>\n<p>You can use the diagram on the back of the sensor as a guide for how voltage and current will be measured.<\/p>\n<p>There are some experiments that will not work well with the Vernier Energy Sensor. For example, investigating an RL Circuit according to instructions in Advanced Physics With Vernier &#8211; Beyond Mechanics experiment 14 will not work with the Energy Sensor because the currents involved are smaller than the resolution of the current sensor.
