So, if you have problems getting a LabQuest 2 unit to turn on in general, the best place to start is <a href=\"\/til\/3355\/\">I have trouble getting my LabQuest 2 to turn on\/start up. (flowchart)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The special SD card <i>can<\/i> fix software corruption problems that can&#8217;t be fixed with <a href=\"\/til\/3074\/\">LabQuest 2 software corruption recovery instructions<\/a>. In particular, it can fix<br \/>\n&#8211;units that start up at least part way, regardless of whether or not they are running version 2.0-2.3.3 or 2.4 or newer.<br \/>\n&#8211;certain types of corruption that the USB drive can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Note: This SD card is very difficult to create. If you need one, contact Vernier Technical Support and we will send one to you.<\/p>\n<p><b>To use the SD card<\/b><br \/>\n1. Turn LabQuest 2 off (remove the battery\/AC power if you can&#8217;t get it to turn off).<br \/>\n2. Put the SD card in the SD card slot on the top-right of the device (under the protective flap).<br \/>\n3. Plug the LabQuest into AC power (if it isn&#8217;t already) and reinsert the battery if you removed it.<br \/>\n4. Turn LabQuest 2 on.<br \/>\n5. Watch the scrolling text for a few minutes. When it is done, LabQuest 2 may instruct you to press the power button to turn it off, or it may turn off automatically.<br \/>\n6. Remove the SD card.<br \/>\n7. Turn LabQuest 2 on.<br \/>\nIf everything went well, it will prompt you to calibrate the screen.<\/p>\n<p>The SD cards will put an older version of the software on the LabQuest 2. After finishing with the above process, update the device normally by following the instructions at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/support\/updates\/labquest\/labq2\/\">https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/support\/updates\/labquest\/labq2\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Do not connect the SD card to a Windows computer.<\/b> If you do plug the SD drive into a Windows computer, Windows will advise that the disk is corrupted and offer to &#8220;fix&#8221; it for you.
