Try this method:<\/p>\n<p>The mixture: equal volumes of reagent grade ethanol and methanol<br \/>\nMini GC profile:<br \/>\nStart Temp 30 deg C<br \/>\nHold Time 8 min<br \/>\nRamp Rate 1 deg C\/min<br \/>\nFinal Temp 30 deg C<br \/>\nDuration 8 min<br \/>\nPressure 2 kPa<\/p>\n<p>Now, here&#8217;s the trick. To draw up your sample in the syringe, first pull the plunger back to the 0.2 microliter mark, and then draw up 0.3 microliter of your mixture. This way, when you inject the sample you are smashing in some air along with the mix (an old chromatographer&#8217;s trick).<\/p>\n<p>The plot of data will show 2 peaks, but there is not a lot of separation between the peaks. From here, you can tinker around a bit with the mix and the parameters to get slightly more separation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Short answer: yes.
