{"id":3675,"date":"2017-10-16T18:17:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-17T01:17:24","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T07:00:00","slug":"3675","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/3675","title":{"rendered":"How do I remove or replace a Go Wireless pH or Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier battery?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Follow these instructions to remove or replace a <a href=\"\/product\/go-wireless-100-mah-replacement-battery\/\">Go Wireless&reg; 100 mAh Replacement Battery<\/a> (<nobr>GW-BAT-100<\/nobr>), in your Go Wireless pH or Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier.  <i>Follow these instructions carefully as <b>PERMANENT DAMAGE<\/b> can result if not done properly.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>To replace batteries on other Go Wireless devices, see<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/til\/3173\/\">How do I remove or replace a Go Wireless Temp battery?<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"\/til\/3676\/\">How do I remove or replace a Go Wireless Link battery?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Battery Removal Instructions<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver (#00 or #2, Hand tool only: do not use an electric screwdriver)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If necessary, remove the electrode from the Electrode Amplifier.<\/li>\n<li> Unscrew and remove the charging end cap on the Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Remove_Charging_Cap_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Remove_Charging_Cap_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Unscrew the BNC connetor end cap on the Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Unscrew_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Unscrew_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Remove the BNC connector end cap.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Open_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Open_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Carefully slide the circuit board out of the probe housing.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Remove_insert_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Remove_insert_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Carefully pull up on the battery connector to remove it from the circuit board.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Disc_Battery_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Disc_Battery_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li> Be sure to dispose of the old battery properly. To find a recycling center near you, see www.call2recycle.org<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Battery Replacement Instructions<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Follow the Battery Removal Instructions, above, to remove the dead battery.<\/li>\n<li>Press the new battery connector down onto the associated pin connector located on the circuit board. Wrap the wires around the edge of the circuit board as shown.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Connect_Battery_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Connect_Battery_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Carefully slide the circuit board into the probe housing. <i>Be sure the charging end cap has been removed before replacing the circuit board or <b>permanent damage<\/b> can result.<\/i><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Replace_insert_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Replace_insert_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Place the BNC connector end cap onto the probe housing.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Close_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Close_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>With the BNC end cap in place, secure with two screws.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Screw_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Screw_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Carefully place the charging end cap onto the probe housing. <i><B>Caution:<\/B> Be sure the charging clips are not bent or broken or <b>permanent damage<\/b> can result.<\/i> Secure the two screws.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/3675-Replace_Charging_Cap_GW-EA.png\" class=\"border\" alt=\"3675-Replace_Charging_Cap_GW-EA.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Test the new battery by pressing the button once on your Go Wireless Electrode Amplifier and verifying the LED lights.<\/li>\n<li>After the unit turns on, verify the charging circuit works by connecting the sensor to a charging station or cable. The blue charge light should illuminate when the sensor is connected to power.
