{"id":4047,"date":"2019-07-17T21:18:13","date_gmt":"2019-07-18T04:18:13","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2023-02-23T09:42:21","modified_gmt":"2023-02-23T17:42:21","slug":"4047","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/4047","title":{"rendered":"Why is Logger <i>Pro<\/i>\/Logger Lite giving an error about mfc140u.dll or 0xc000007b?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is fixed in Logger <i>Pro<\/i> version 3.15, if you are running an older version of Logger <i>Pro<\/i> you should update to version 3.15 here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/support\/updates\/logger-pro\/\">https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/support\/updates\/logger-pro\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instructions below work for older versions of Logger <i>Pro<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Short answer:<\/b><br \/>Download and run <a href=\"https:\/\/d1zt81d93mquk0.cloudfront.net\/til\/4047\/vc_redist.x86.exe\">this file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Long answer:<\/b><br \/>When you open Logger <i>Pro<\/i> or Logger Lite, you may see one of two messages:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/4047-MFC140Uerror.png\" alt=\"4047-MFC140Uerror.png\"\/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Message 1: <b>LoggerPro.exe &#8211; System Error<\/b> &#8220;The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/files\/til\/images\/4047-0xc000007b.jpg\" alt=\"4047-0xc000007b.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Message 2: <b>LoggerPro.exe &#8211; Application Error<\/b> &#8220;The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This error is caused by a missing Microsoft library that Logger <i>Pro<\/i>\/Lite should have installed automatically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>The first thing to try is installing the libary manually:<\/b><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/d1zt81d93mquk0.cloudfront.net\/til\/4047\/vc_redist.x86.exe\">Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019, x86<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>There is another solution;<\/b> manually add a few files to the hard drive:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/d1zt81d93mquk0.cloudfront.net\/til\/4047\/vc140.zip\">this zip file<\/a> and unzip the file.<\/li>\n<li>Move the &#8220;.dll&#8221; files into the same folder as the LoggerPro.exe application.
