A JavaScript error, like the one shown below, is caused by a corrupt or missing x86 Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable<\/strong> file. Having an x64 redistributable is not<\/strong><\/em> and can not be<\/strong><\/em> a substitute for the x86 version. Graphical Analysis, Spectral Analysis and Instrumental Analysis are 32-bit (x86) programs.<\/p>\n

Note: <\/strong>When installing Graphical Analysis, Spectral Analysis, or Instrumental Analysis using a silent installer<\/a>, the x86 redistributable must be installed manually if not already installed on the computers.<\/p>\n

Fixing the Error<\/h3>\n

  1. Go into Add\/Remove Programs and check to see if you have the Microsoft Visual C++ x86 redistributable, version 14. The listing will be similar to…<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) 14.29.30133<\/strong><\/small><\/h3>\n

    Note: x86<\/strong> and a version of 14.xx<\/strong> are most important<\/em>; the exact year and version can vary.<\/em><\/p>\n

    1. If you do have the x86 redistributable, remove it. If you do not have it, skip to step 4.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note:<\/strong> Make sure you don’t remove the x64<\/strong> version by mistake. Doing so will not affect the Vernier Analysis apps, but it will break other applications that depend on that redistributable.<\/em><\/p>\n

      1. Reboot your computer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Install the x86 redistributable. The file is here: vc_redist.x86.exe<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Note:<\/strong> The file can be distributed silently using the command: \u201cvc_redist.x86.exe \/q\u201d.<\/p>\n
