{"id":6827,"date":"2020-04-02T09:04:37","date_gmt":"2020-04-02T16:04:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/?p=6827"},"modified":"2025-09-17T12:05:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T19:05:47","slug":"why-wont-my-sensor-connect-via-bluetooth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/6827","title":{"rendered":"Troubleshooting Bluetooth Connections with Go Direct Sensors"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Troubleshooting<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify you are running the updated version of the app.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Graphical Analysis<\/strong><br \/>Click or tap Other Options,<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\" class=\"wp-image-14274\" style=\"width: 25px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/Three-dot-menu-item.png\" alt=\"\">, and choose \u201cAbout\u201d to determine the version of the app you are running. If a newer version is available, use the link to update the app.<\/li>\n<li><strong>LabQuest App<\/strong><br \/>Check the version number by tapping Home &gt; System &gt; System Information. <br \/>(Requires LabQuest App version 2.9.0 or newer, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/downloads\/labquest-2-updates\/\">updates<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you are trying to connect a spectrometer, make sure you are using <strong>Spectral Analysis<\/strong>. <br \/>See <a href=\"\/til\/4118\/\">Why can't my device find Go Direct Spectrometer when I try to connect via Bluetooth?<\/a><\/li>\n<li>If you manually paired the sensor with your device, unpair it. Graphical Analysis cannot find sensors that have been manually paired to your device. Choosing which sensor to connect is all done in the app, and not in the operating system.<\/li>\n<li>Reboot your device. <\/li>\n<li>Reboot the sensor. Press and hold the power button down for 30 seconds or more.<\/li>\n<li>The sensor could be connected to another device. Verify the sensor&#8217;s Bluetooth LED is flashing red.  If it is not, turn the sensor off and then turn it back on.<\/li>\n<li>Your sensor may need to be charged. In most cases, a sensor will fully charge in about 2 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Verify compatibility of our device, see <a href=\"\/til\/3857\/\">Will my device work with Go Direct Sensors via Bluetooth?<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Check if updates are available to your sensor&#8217;s firmware using the Go Direct Firmware Updater app.<br \/><a href=\"\/til\/4013\/\">How do I update firmware on Go Direct sensors?<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Check if updates are available to your device&#8217;s operating system.<\/li>\n<li>If you have already tried several things, it is best to unpair everything, reboot both the sensor and the computer, and re-connect following our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernier.com\/til\/get-started\">platform-specific getting started instructions<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>If your sensor continues to fail, try the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify the sensor can connect to a different device.<\/li>\n<li>Try connecting to a computer or Chromebook via USB. <\/li>\n<li>Try connecting to a different device via Bluetooth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-background-color has-background\"><strong><em>Note<\/em><\/strong>: In the case where the Bluetooth LED is solid red instead of blinking red, this indicates firmware corruption. Try disconnecting the battery and then re-installing the battery. If this does not solve the problem, contact Vernier technical support.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Platform-Specific Issues<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chromebook<\/strong>\u2014Use the progressive web app by typing <a href=\"https:\/\/graphicalanalysis.app\">graphicalanalysis.app<\/a> into a Chrome browser. Do not use the Android version of the app (from Google Play). <br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/7415\/\">Google has stopped supporting Chrome Packaged Apps for Chromebooks.<\/a><br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/4359\/\">My Chromebook won't connect to USB devices when using Graphical Analysis, Spectral Analysis, or Instrumental Analysis.<\/a><br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/3454\/\">How do I update Graphical Analysis app and other PWA apps on my Chromebook?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>iOS<\/strong>\u2014Check that name of the app you are using Graphical Analysis, not Graphical GW.<br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/4177\/\">What is the difference between Graphical Analysis app (Graphical) and  Graphical Analysis GW (GraphicalGW)?<\/a><br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/13274\/\">Graphical Analysis says that Bluetooth is not enabled, but I am sure it is on. (Android devices)<\/a><br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/3618\/\">Why is Graphical Analysis for Android requesting permission to see my location?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>LabQuest 2<\/strong>\u2014Your model LabQuest 2 may require an external Bluetooth radio.<br \/>\u26ac <a href=\"\/til\/3085\/\">How do I know if my LabQuest will work with Go Direct Sensors and Go Wireless devices?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Computer<\/strong>\u2014Verify you are not running two versions of the app at the same time, or also have Logger <i>Pro<\/i> or Logger Lite open.
