Vernier and the Environment
Earth Day cleanups, solar power, and public transportation benefits are just the beginning of Vernier’s commitment to the environment and the future.
Vernier Software & Technology has a number of innovative environmental features at our building, including a ZipCar, a bike room, and 17,000 watts of solar panels. We provide our employees alternatives to driving to work and programs to encourage environmental stewardship.
If you visit Portland, Oregon, we encourage you to stop by for a tour and a Segway ride.

LEED-EB Green Building
We achieved a Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council for our building. Our goal is to provide an environmentally responsible and healthy workplace for our employees.

Solar Panels
We have over 120 photovoltaic panels installed on our roof of our building to provide 7% of our building’s energy.

Recycled Materials
All of our printed materials use papers with a minimum of 10% post-consumer waste and environmentally friendly bleaching policies. We also give preference to printers who work with soy inks. We work with local mills when buying paper to reduce the amount of fuel resources used for shipping.

Friends of Trees
In conjunction with a non-profit group, Friends of Trees, we planted 200 trees in the wetlands near our office.

Earth Day
Each year, we celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up the trash and garbage around our building and Beaverton creek.

Tri-Met
Every Vernier employee is given a Tri-Met pass for use with Portland public transportation. Vernier’s building is a short walk from the Millikan Way light rail station, making public transportation a viable commute to work.

Zipcar
Employees are encouraged to use the Zipcar for work-related errands. As a bonus, every employee is provided two hours a month for personal Zipcar use when they take public transportation to work.
