After each use of the Data Pro cable on the Tungsten E2, the HotSync process using the USB HotSync cable is temporarily disabled. This is a defect in the Tungsten E2/TX OS that is probably not going to be fixed.

For all workarounds, always leave the Data Pro program before HotSyncing. The best way to leave or exit is by tapping the Home icon. Do not use the Quit button in Data Pro.

1. Use Bluetooth to HotSync the E2/TX.
If your computer is Bluetooth-enabled, you may set up the HotSync process to use the Bluetooth connection. For computer setup, refer to the documentation for your computer or Bluetooth adapter. For handheld setup instructions, go to the palmOne KnowledgeBase, kb.palmone.com, and Search by Solution ID: 31200.

2. Before attempting the HotSync, plug, unplug, and replug the HotSync cable.
It is important to wait for the E2/TX to acknowledge each plug/unplug with a beep. This is the sequence:
a. tap the Home icon to leave Data Pro
a. plug in the HotSync cable and wait for a high beep
b. unplug the HotSync cable and wait a low beep
c. plug in the HotSync cable and wait for a high beep
d. press the HotSync button

3. After an attempted HotSync does not start, cancel the Hotsync and replug the USB HotSync cable.
a. Tap and hold the Cancel button until it changes color.
b. Unplug the HotSync cable and wait for a low beep.
c. Plug in the HotSync cable and wait for a high beep.
d. Press the HotSync cable button.

4. Either before or after attempting the HotSync, soft reset the E2/TX.
The reset button is on the back of the E2 near the bottom. Use the stylus to push the button. No data will be lost.
